An Intimate Wedding

AN INTIMATE WEDDING AT FULHAM PALACE, LONDON
I don’t usually do styled shoots but very occasionally I’m asked by the right supplier and I just can’t say no! The aim of this editorial shoot was to create the story of a couple who wanted an intimate London wedding, styled with natural florals balanced with a contemporary feel.
Fulham Palace in London was chosen as the venue. Better known for hosting larger weddings in their marquee the venue also offers beautiful intimate spaces which suited our couple’s day perfectly. It presents a distinct blend of beautiful grounds with a central London location whilst also being convenient for international guests.
Working with Liz, of Blue Sky Flowers, we started with a desire to create a statement arch in the Palace’s stunning courtyard. This would be an impressive first impression for guests and also served as a beautiful backdrop for our couples’ portraits and displaying the cake by Anna Lewis Cakes.
The bride and groom, a real couple, were only recently married themselves. Contemporary looks were chosen in terms of their fashion, the groom looking particularly suave in black tie and the bride in a beautiful sleek and sophisticated Modeca dress provided by Morgan Davies Bridal. The bride’s hair and makeup by Team Glam was designed to echo the sophisticated and contemporary look.
One of the venue’s best kept secrets is their intimate chapel which was utilised for the ceremony. Dating from 1867, few know of this beautiful chapel with its stunning features including gold-leaf mosaics and stained-glass windows. The chapel was simply dressed with a floral pedestal display and a meadow runner to adorn the aisle.
The wedding breakfast was set up in The Bishop Sherlock’s Room, an elegant room designed in 1764 with a classical, ornate ceiling, beautiful gold chandelier and plenty of natural light from the large windows overlooking the Palace lawns. To balance the natural and flowing florals with the contemporary feel the team kept the table décor to a theme of blue and gold. Options Great Hire provided gorgeous gold rimmed tableware and chairs while Just 4 Linen provided table linens in muted creams and blue. A little extra pop of colour was provided through the candles and the embroidered ribbon place cards by The Embroidered Napkin Company which adorned the menu cards by Millie Stone UK who also provided the table numbers, favour boxes and the welcome sign.
Photography was by Rebecca Goddard who captured the day in a relaxed and unobtrusive way, documenting the day as it unfolded naturally. She got the honest reactions and tender moments between our couple beautifully. Rebecca’s unobtrusive approach was echoed by our video David James.
The team were delighted when this shoot was featured by Love My Dress®.
